A range of sensory issues can impact feeding in young children. Preferred and non-preferred sensory input must first be identified and understood before implementation of strategies to address food intake It is also important to identify additional factors such as oral aversion and trauma. Young children with disabilities are especially at-risk if processing difficulties, neurological differences and/or sensory limitations are present and affect feeding.
